Ten things I learnt today

  1.  People say 'apologies' or 'my apologies' when they aren't actually sorry.
  2. It's better to ask if you're in the right class, in front of everyone, rather than sit in a marketing tutorial for an hour.
  3. Neva and Rachael like board games!
  4. You can make veggie stock by boiling vegetable cuttings.
  5. More people smoke here than they do back home; it's more accepted.
  6. They have double decker buses in Bath.
  7. Table salt costs 6 AUD.
  8. Freshly baked bread costs 1.20 AUD.
  9. The uni students here all seem older than me. I can't find any other 19 year olds.
  10. English people say 'Alright' or 'You alright?' instead of 'How are you?' and generally people don't answer the question, just respond with 'Hi' or say 'Alright' back.
